ANA, Slot Coordination Portugal is responsible for the allocation of available slots at coordinated airports and for facilitation of the facilitated ones. In Portugal, at present, Lisbon, Porto, Madeira and Faro were designated as coordinated airports (Faro just for summer season). Ponta Delgada and Faro airports (Faro just for Winter season) are facilitated airports.
According to the Decree-Law 109/2008 of 26th June, the provision of the service of slot coordination will be supported by the creation of a fee, charged together with the landing and take-off taxes, which shall cover all the operating costs, predicted future investments and financial costs and shall include a margin of reasonability. In this way, the financing of the service of slot coordination is supported 50% by the managing bodies of the coordinated or schedules facilitated airports and the remaining 50% by the aforementioned tax to be paid by all the air carriers or operators which operate in the coordinated and schedules facilitated airports.
The referred slot coordination service fee shall be charged together with the landing and take-off taxes per movement, to be fixed by order of the minister responsible for the civil aviation sector.
